Description

About the presented product:
Luxjes: A series of vases for small spring flowers such as snowdrops and narcissus. Those flowers are the first sign of light after the dark winter days. The name Luxje is inspired from Lux, a unit by which light is measured. To do justice to these small flowers, the vase can tumble. This movement is inspired from the wind that makes the flowers move.

The latest edition of the series is the larger 14 cm high glass vase. The vase is available in different colors, and in ceramics. The mold for the porcelain vases has the same dimensions as the glass variant. But due to shrinkage the vase is 15% smaller when fired in the kiln that reaches a temperature over 1200 degrees. With this variation in sizes there is always a perfect vase for the first signs of light.

CAM series: The CAM Series started as a research that is focused on digital produce plaster mold for slip casting. Floris has built a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) router that is programmable with CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software that generates tool paths. By adjusting different parameters it creates countless variations and outcomes. This technique creates beautiful textures and patterns that are unique with this way of making the mold. Available as candleholder, lamp and vase.

About the designer:
After Floris graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2022, he started his own design studio. Floris design practice is focused around techniques and materials. New and old, like working with an ancient craft of glass-blowing. And discovering new possibilities with computer numerical control machines. To create unique patterns and shapes.
