AVV is a young and democratic Dutch trade union. Unions are crucial for a healthy labor market, but we will only achieve a healthy labor market if the interests of all working people are represented. The current polder landscape does not pay enough attention to the interests of young people, people with flexible contracts and self-employed workers. AVV is doing something about this.
We do this first by acting as a collective bargaining partner. The number of sectors in which AVV is active is growing. When we conclude a collective agreement, we actively gather input from the sector. This means that all affected employees can participate in discussions, even if you are not a member of AVV. Ultimately, everyone who will be covered by the collective agreement also gets to vote on the draft collective agreement. Read more about our support model.
Of course, there are things we want to get right no matter what. We insist on good training opportunities everywhere to ensure that you can work with confidence, even in uncertain times. We also think it is important that you can take control of your own career, for example by influencing your working hours or deciding for yourself which jobs you do.
In addition to acting as a collective bargaining partner, AVV fights for a good pension system. There are currently major problems in the pension world, which threaten the retirement provision of today’s young people. Funds are juggling figures, meanwhile squandering pension money. AVV chairman Martin Pikaart wrote the book Wanbeleid, Algemeen Burgerlijk: Een aanklacht tegen het grootste pensioenfonds van Nederland, about the mistakes made at pension fund ABP.
